Winter Ice

Winter Ice
I was in a friends home the other day. They mentioned to me that they suddenly has some mold growing on the wall of their closet. I looked at their roof and it looked good. I looked at the wood on their facia. They looked good. I looked at the caulking in all of the seams and the problem wasn't there either. I said I have no idea what the matter was.
So i went home and thought on it some more. You see the weather here was snow, snow and some more snow. But in the day time it would warm up a little bit causing it to melt. Then in the evening it would refreeze. This in itself is not the problem. Some dirty gutters that get water in them that dont drain. That freezes solid and anything after that does too. Now it will lift the shingels, NOW is where the water finds its way in a open seam and down the walls. The insulation is wet and will soak the sheetrock/wallbord from the back giving birth to the black mold
We have to clean them dang gutters out...One more thing around here to remember if the snow gets deep on the roof, you have to pull it down from there. It isn't the wieght when it first gets there. The snow will gain a heck of alot weight as the snow melts and new snow falls. Each layer gets heavier and heavier. If the pitch isnt too much, the wieight will be too much and bring in the roof . Well thats all I have good luck and God Bless
